Important Recommendations Before Surgery

1- If you are taking any medications before surgery, please inform us. The use of aspirin and blood-thinning drugs before nasal surgery is prohibited. Inform us of any medications including herbal remedies, vitamins, or contraceptive pills.

2- You must inform us of any previous illnesses you have had, even those you consider insignificant or fully treated. Also, let us know about any family or hereditary medical history.

3- Smoking and hookah increase anesthesia risks and reduce the final surgical outcome. If you cannot quit, you must stop using them from three weeks before surgery until one month after.

4- You must arrive at the clinic at the scheduled time and remain completely fasting for eight hours before.

5- Patients must bring identification, hospitalization documents, and one companion.

6- Women must come without makeup, jewelry, or nail polish; men must be clean-shaven.

7- If you suffer from poor sleep the night before surgery, you may take one 0.5 mg Alprazolam tablet.

8- Before and after surgery, you can access comprehensive and useful information by visiting our website blog section.

Important Recommendations After Surgery

1- Keep your head elevated, apply cold compresses beside the nose and under the eyes for at least 48 hours after surgery, avoid excessive talking, and refrain from heavy movements to reduce swelling.

2- Drink milk and juice during the first 24 hours after surgery. Then gradually consume blended food and later regular meals. Avoid hard foods requiring chewing (such as carrots, apples) for one week.

3- Limit salty, fatty, sour, and spicy foods.

4- Drink natural juices and take prescribed medications starting the night after surgery. (Do not take medications on an empty stomach.)

5- In the first one to two weeks, nasal swelling and secretions may make breathing difficult. Washing and suctioning help. (After washing, you may clean secretions at the nostril opening with a cotton swab, but do not insert it inside the nose to avoid mucosal injury and bleeding.)

6- Tetracycline ointment is used to lubricate inside the nose and on stitches; keep the nose lubricated after washing.

7- Do not blow your nose for one month after surgery.

8- If you have bloody discharge, in addition to elevating your head and using cold compresses, put five drops of phenylephrine or naphazoline nasal drops on a small piece of cotton, roll it, gently insert it into the nostril, and remove after five minutes.

9- Bruising around the nose and eyes may occur within two to three days if you strain, fail to use cold compresses adequately, or talk excessively. This is not a cause for concern.

10- Absolute bed rest is not required; you may sit and walk.

11- If you have a cold vapor humidifier at home, use it especially during sleep to ease breathing.

12- Straining, exercise, sexual activity, and lifting heavy objects are prohibited for three weeks after surgery.

13- Proper and timely tape replacement helps reduce swelling but does not affect the final shape of the nose.

14- Be very careful to avoid any trauma to the nose, especially in the first weeks after surgery.

15- Sleep on your back with your head elevated for the first two weeks after surgery.

16- If you are a smoker, it is better not to undergo surgery. If you do, you must avoid smoking for at least one month after.

17- To remove the nasal cast, visit the clinic between five days to one week after surgery. (Before visiting, take a shower so the cast loosens completely.)

18- Please schedule your clinic visit with the secretary in advance.
Post-operative medications and usage:
Cephalexin capsule: every 6 hours
